Unit economics
Profitability measured per customer or per unit sold.
Definition
Unit economics isolates the revenue and cost associated with a single unit — one customer, one order, one subscription — to determine whether the underlying model is profitable at scale.
Why it matters
Aggregate figures hide broken models. If a customer costs more to acquire and serve than they ever pay, scale makes the problem larger, not smaller.
